Mira went into the interview room, ready for the elite level candidate to come in. She had prepared some questions, and was prepared to proceed from Summer's answers to further questions.

Summer entered the interview room and curtsied to the Councillor in front of her, a bright smile on her face. She waited for permission to be seated.

"You may seat yourself," she said. She sensed a little anxiety in the girl, but felt that overall she seemed quite confident. The girl had definitely made some good first impressions on the Councillor.

She nodded and sat down as gracefully as she could. Summer waited patiently for the first question, but anyone could see the slight tenseness in her limbs.

"So, for the first question," she began: "Why are you applying for the elite levels?" Mira knew it wasn't the most common first question, but she needed somewhat of an insight as to how Summer would approach a hard task such as passing the elite levels.

She sat up a little straighter. "I've always wanted to work for the Nobility as an emissary, and to do so, I must pass the Elite Levels."

She thought for a bit before saying: "Perhaps I did not phrase that right. I was thinking more of why you want to do this. You are obviously a very ambitious person, but I'd like a little more insight as to what you'd like to do and change once you reach your heights."

She flushed, embarrassed, before regaining her composure. "I've always thought that we could do more with our relationships with other species. While we do have treaties with all the intelligent species, we do not have much diplomacy. I would like to go to Ravagog or Gildingham to try and improve relations with other species." She hoped she had answered correctly.

"Thank you very much for that answer. I am glad to finally hear such a well thought-out opinion," she began, pleased with Summer's answer. "So, Summer, I see that you are a hydrokinetic. This means you have the power over a whole element. I myself having an elemental ability too, would like to ask you a question you probably have come across before: "Do you ever feel the need to succumb to the forces of water?"

She nodded, relieved. "I would be lying if I said no," She admitted. "Water speaks to me and pulls me in, but I've grown quite adept at resisting it."

"That's good to hear. You seem pretty confident in your ability. But don't worry, that's a good thing. More people like that are needed." She paused a bit before continuing on another path of questioning: "So looking at your past reports, it seems as if Alchemy and The Universe are not exactly your strengths. Would you like to elaborate a bit on this, or should I ask the question I had in mind?"

She took a deep breath. "I'd like to elaborate on them, if you don't mind. I burnt myself in Level 2 during Alchemy, and ever since I have never taken a risk with anyone of the items. In The Universe, the names and colors blur together, until I can't seem to remember anything."

"As you may already know, members of the Nobility must be well-rounded in every field. So in order to graduate the Elite levels, which will be much tougher than the basic levels, how do you plan on getting better at these subjects? I am not asking for you to be the best at them; everyone has their weaknesses."

She thinks for a moment. "The Alchemy issue is based purely on my own fears, and I think I can conquer them with enough practice. As for the Universe, I've started to study more and head out to the stargazing fields in my free time, trying to learn as much as I can."

"It's good to hear that you are willing to work on your weaknesses to get better. And for your final question, as I feel that I am almost at a decision, is: Who is your biggest inspiration, and if there is someone, who will have your back as you go through your journey to success?"

Summer knew the answer in a heartbeat. "My best friend, who's enrolling in the Elite Levels as well. She's kind and happy, despite the twin prejudices against her. I would do anything for her, and I've always wanted to be like her. She's one of the most supportive people I've ever met, and I know wherever I go, she'll support me all the way through."

Mira finished writing some last few things on her notepad, and then looked up at Summer. "Thank you for coming here. I'd like you to know that you did surprisingly well compared to others. You'll get a scroll delivered to your house discussing results of this interview."
