Just so you know, I'm @/102605K but I changed my username lol.
To keep things on topic, here's a rant I recently wrote about why Wylie and Linh were foster siblings -
It's widely known that I'm one of the people who likes to talk more about sibling-romance ties in books (not just KotLC) or movies (*cough* Allison and Luther).
Anyway, when talking about Wylinh, when I say some reasons I don't ship it, I usually say, "Well, they're pretty much siblings, so . . . ."
And then they ask how they're siblings.
I mean, I get it. They have no biological ties or anything, so how could they be siblings?
The answer is that they're foster siblings, and in my opinion, is just as worse as if you were to date your biological siblings. I've gone into the "Why being biologically related doesn't necessarily mean you aren't siblings" take before, but let's take a second to talk about this:
What exactly makes them foster siblings in the first place?
To do that, we need to determine what a foster family is:
Foster parents are people who officially take a child into their family for a period of time, without becoming the child's legal parents. The child is referred to as their foster child.
People who take a child into their family without becoming the child's legal parents (or maybe they do eventually).
This is Tiergan exactly. He took Tam and Linh in when they didn't have a home because they were unable to go back to their parents' house. But he isn't their legal dad.
Foster siblings are children who are raised in the same foster home: foster children of one's parent(s), or the children or foster children of one's foster parent.
Foster siblings, according to the definition and in this case, are biological children of the foster parent.
Wylie is the child of Tiergan.
Tiergan is the foster parent of Tam and Linh.
Wylie is the foster sibling to Tam and Linh, and they are his foster siblings.
Now, people will argue that they don't live together anymore, nor do they consider each other siblings.
First: They don't live together because of Glimmer. Not because of anything else. Because of Glimmer. Linh and Wylie would still be living together if it weren't for a completely different factor.
Second: It . . . doesn't really matter. They're still foster siblings, or were at some point in the past (and probably will be again in the future).
Also, after doing some research, I found out that in most states and countries around the world (but not all), it is illegal to marry your sibling, whether biological or adopted.
(It is a much better idea to never enter into a romantic relationship of any sort with an adopted sibling, even if this person came into your life later in childhood. The bottom line is that no siblings, whether by blood or adoption, can legally marry—nor should they.)
There are only 22 places in the entire world where is a marriage between adopted siblings okay, and some of them have rules such as both people must be over 18, or they can't get married.
So after all this research, that's why Linh and Wylie are foster siblings, and one of the reasons I don't ship them.
